Do You Know What Your Kids Are Doing?

Do You Know What Your Kids Are Doing?
By :Black Jesus

We have all seen the commercial. You know the one that says, "It's 8 o' clock, do you know where your kids are"? I know you are saying, "where is he going with this". Walk with me. First of all I am not a parent. But I did play daddy to my niece for seven years. I was appointed the duty when my brother took a vacation (in your family it might be referred to as college or the military). Anyway how many of you who do have kids, take time to monitor your children’s activities. Do you know where they go and what they are doing once the leave the house or neighborhood? Do you know what they are doing in their bedrooms. With access to the internet they could be doing anything. Porn should be the your smallest concern. I know we all look at youtube and the endless other music and entertainment sights as good ole fun. Last week I was talking to a college friend of mine. We'll just refer to him as AK from da Bronx. While talking about relatives and different situations he said" B, the New theme for the country is STUPIDITY." At first I just laughed. I agreed and didn't give his statement much thought. That Sunday I heard his words echoing through my ears.

On Sunday I walked into my nephews bedroom. As usual he was on his laptop. I figured he was looking at porn or playing some meaningless game. To my surprise he said he was doing homework. He has a history of telling false truths, so I decided to investigate. I asked what was his assignment. He then informed me that the task at hand was to create a fifty word slang dictionary. If you know me, you know that I lost my cool. After finding out that the whole class had received this assignment, I immediately went to his parents. I asked did they know the nature of there sons English homework assignment. They replied no. I told them about it. They then called their son into the living room. If I were the parent, I would have told him NOT TO DO IT. But like my brother always reminds me, I don’t have any kids. After a brief series of questions(none of which had any real substance), he returned to his room to finish his homework. In my disappointment I went and had a Heineken and a Newport.

While drinking and smoking the words of Ak from the Bronx echoed through my head. “B, the new theme for the country is stupidity.” My nephew is twelve yrs old and has all advanced classes. I began to wonder. If advanced students are making slang dictionaries, what are average students doing? The thought scares me. Will the next generation make George Bush look like Einstein. How are words like “whoadie” and “jeet” conducive to the development of a adolescent mind. They aren’t. Neither is youtube or channels that show videos 24hrs a day. On the other hand they are conducive to molding a person into being passive. If a person is not given any knowledge how can they have an appetite for it? A person with no knowledge can never challenge the system. And the system never wants to be challenged so knowledge for the masses will never be encouraged. I knew as a young child that I was responsible for my own education. And that if I didn’t educate myself outside of school I would be lead by the blind. I must thank my Father and my Fifth grade teacher Mrs. Patricia Brown for instilling this in me. Parents your local public school system doesn’t have your childs best interest in mind. I urge you to look at there assignments. When in doubt question there teachers. Remember your tax dollars pay their salaries. Our society does not want leaders. Leaders are bad for America. Look at what they did to Pac. Our country wants followers. And if you don’t monitor and challenge the educational system you will have don a great disservice to your child.

I agree completely with what you are saying. As a parent I try to check with my child to see what she has learned and what she was given for homework on a daily basis. You are the advocate for your children and you have to be vigilant. Keep it coming blackjesus!

B, I agree as well. This asscrack of a government wants puppets. They feel as though they have enough puppeteers. Nowadays, you have to look for fruitful information. I would have spoke with the teacher about that assholish assignment and then requested and alternative one. What the hell do they plan on doing with this slang dictionary? Incorporating it future lesson plans? "Okay, class, ya'll goin' 'feel' todays lesson. This shit is 'gansta'. All ya'll 'lil buddies' should 'dig' this! Christopher Columbus or C-Col one of the 'flyest' explorers ever. All Americans should 'wipe him down'." Maaan, lol...I can't do it no more...lol. Good article.

Bishop! i must once again applaud you for a job well done. I totally agree with this article/blog/..or whatever! :) All the little irrelevant shit such as videos, ipods, text msg'n....is pointless. It's not helping us to advance. It's jus put there to dumb us down....jus like the public school system. Just to keep us busy so that we won't figure out what the hell is really going on in the world. Keep up the good work. I look forward to reading the next one.
