?WHY?

What’s happening to all of my people of color. And also to all of the readers who suffer from melanin deficiency syndrome. This week I really struggled to come up with a topic. So I wanted to address some issues that I have struggled with, since a teenager to make sense of. Frankly these things continue to puzzle me. Such as roaches and rats in the household and why we as people of color are always trying to make our children into the next athletic phenom.

We all have a friend or family member who as a insect or rodent problem (Vernacular term, Roaches or Rats). Some of the homes that are plagued by this problem are disgusting. I dabbled in illegal trade in my younger days, so when I tell you that I have seen it all. Believe u me I have seen it all. I’m talking about nasty Baltimore city rowhouse, aids needle stuck in the sofa arm, oodles of noodles next to a shitty diaper next to blunt insides and Newport butts, Nasty. On the other hand there are some dwellings that are absolutely spotless that are plagued by these problems. Why do roaches and rats exist? How do they contribute to the balance of life? I Dunno. I know Roaches survived the atomic bomb in Japan. That tells me that they were here before me and will be here after me. So if u have them deal with it. These two animals are like 9th ward niggas (not Black people (there is a difference)). No matter how hard you try, you can’t get rid of them. They just relocate and continue their barbaric invasions and activities in different regions. My questions is. Why does the dweller of these domiciles never give their guest a heads up about their roommates. Are they embarrassed, or are they under the impression that everybody is accustomed to these conditions. If you know me, and you live in these conditions, I’m about to give you a heads up. I’m not accustomed. Even when u enter and the Rats are playing red light green light with the roaches, the tenant turns the blind eye to the activities of the evening. One night, a few years back I Left foxy ladies stopped by New York fried chicken and proceeded to Harlem ave to play some Madden. I entered my homebois crib. This was my first visit. Placed my food on the counter while I proceeded to the lavatory to wash the skripper sweat off my hands. When I returned the rats was on my food like somalians at a buffet. These ignorant fuckers ate threw the bag, the Styrofoam and the foil. My homeboi looked at me real nonchalant like and said” I forgot u ain’t from B”more.” I just shook my head and said “God why”.


Black men with son’s. Why do you keep setting your sons up for failure. You are 5’7”. Your wife is 5’2”. How do you think that you two could genetically produce the next Lebron James. Your friends are probably on the same intellectual level as you. So I’m gonna tell you. It’s damn near impossible. You have a better chance at hitting the lottery. Stop. If you ever venture about t fifty mile out of your local metropolis and pass an elementary school playground while recess is in session. You would notice that black children are lightly peppered through the crowds of kids. Your senile Big Mamma would have a easier time spotting baby roaches in her rice canister. For those of you who don’t know. Black people make up about 9.6% of the population. In the larger scale of things, we don’t count. We make up more than 75% of the NBA, over 50% of the Nfl, and we are still holding it down as the majority in Americas prison systems (b’cuz we keep it Gangsta). These are three industries which generate billions of dollars of revenue for the united states. The Nba is composed of 30 teams containing 15 players each. The NFL is composed of 32 teams which each has 53 players on their roster. There are 30 million black people in this country. In every species there are more women than men. For the sake of argument lets say that there are two black women for every black man( in reality its about 9 to 1). That would mean that there are 10 million black men all trying to get 1 out of about 450 nba roster spots. Or 1 out of about 1700 Nfl roster spots. Either way I’m willing to bet my whole reparations check that your son ain’t gonna make it. And if he does make it, odds are that wicked jump shot won’t keep him in the league more than 5 years. And that stiff arm won’t keep him in the Nfl more than 3.5 years. Parents stop selling your offspring this dream. It’s damn near unachievable. When your more concerned with showing off your sons killer crossover than his report card, it means your child is probably just a ignorant as you, and if he does make it he’ll be in debt forever. If you are more concerned with how many touchdowns your son scores than his sat scores the child is doomed. Because of you passion for athletic achievement and lack of emphasis on education, potential talent never sees the collegiate court, field or campus. Personally I think we let the media dictate our expectations for our young black men. Yeah I know, when we see our young black men on TV they’re playing basketball, football, rapping or dancing. Why aren’t our sons influenced to be the next George Washington Carver or Johnny Cochran. You do the homework. I guarantee, there are more black male scientist and lawyers than there are Nfl and Nba players. And their careers last longer.


Why are we so far behind as a people? Why are we comfortable with being so far behind? Yeah I Know, Caucasians had a 400 year head start. I know that life deals us fucked up hands. I know we live in a racist society. I also know that we make up only 9.6% of Americas population but we are the majority in the NBA, NFL Rap, R&B, Jazz and Inmates. Me personally I’m tired of my people being used for Americas entertainment. ?Why? Are we as BLACK people content with being the court jesters for America.
